After careful consideration, the organisers of the ERT Awards have made some key changes to ensure that those deserving of their moment in the spotlight are able to participate in this year’s event.

We recognise that the past few months have been incredibly difficult for the electrical retailing industry and we want to make sure that the outstanding efforts and contributions of all in the sector are honoured. With that in mind, we have made some important changes to this year’s scheme.

Firstly, we have taken the decision to delay the entry deadline until Friday 2 October. For electrical retailers, this will provide a bit more breathing room to put together your amazing submissions and for manufacturers whose product launches may have been delayed, there will be extra time to put your innovative products forward for consideration.

Additionally, there have been a number of changes to this year’s retailer categories. The amended categories for the 2020 Awards are:

Best Independent Domestic Appliance Retailer

Recognising the very best independent retailer that stocks domestic appliances.

Best Independent Electrical Retailer Website

This will be awarded to an independent electrical retailer with a web retail platform that boosts their business and enhances the customer’s overall retail experience.

Best Independent Consumer Electronics Retailer

Recognising the very best independent retailer that stocks consumer electronics.

Sales Excellence Award

This award recognises an electrical retail salesperson that has demonstrated attentiveness to customer needs, product knowledge and has gone the extra mile for the benefit of both the customer and their business.

Turning Point Award

The Turning Point Award will be presented to an independent electrical retailer that has demonstrated initiative and proven positive adaptation to their business model in order to thrive in the current retail climate. This prestigious award is particularly poignant in 2020, as we look to honour the forward-thinking retailers that have demonstrated innovative thinking and practises in order to overcome the hurdles that have been faced by the sector.

There have been no changes to this year’s manufacturer/supplier awards.

Once entries close on October 2, all entries will proceed to the decision-making stage where both a judging panel and online vote will determine this year’s winners. These winners will be revealed at the first ever virtual ERT Awards ceremony which will take place this December. More information will be announced shortly.
